Cut Your Healthcare Costs

At HealthPartners, we want you to be healthy and keep more of your money in your own pocket. Here are some tips to help you do just that.
  1. Find the right provider. An in-network provider is almost always a lower-cost choice. Our national network includes more than 650,000 providers, so finding one you know or prefer is easy. You can even compare providers using our cost and quality ratings. Search for a hospital or clinic in your plan's network.

It's also a good idea to follow simple preventive care guidelines. Here are some helpful
    recommendations
to keep you healthy and prevent unnecessary trips to the hospital or clinic.

  2. Know where to go. Going to the emergency room costs a lot more than going to urgent care, which costs a lot more than going to your doctor's office. If it's not a true emergency and you're not sure where to go, call HealthPartners CareLineSM and let a registered nurse answer your questions and help you determine the best treatment options.

  3. Get to know HealthPartners Nurse NavigatorsSM. Get your own personal guide to finding the best healthcare and benefit options. Our nurse navigators are experienced nurses who can answer any tough question over the phone. View a demo of Nurse Navigators to learn more or call Member Services at 800-883-2177.

  4. Review your Explanations of Benefits. Explanations of Benefits aren't bills but rather a verification that you've received service and that we've been charged by a provider for the service. Review your EOB carefully to make sure you've been billed correctly. Use our diagrammed chart for assistance and, if you find an error in your EOB, contact Member Services and we'll help you get it fixed. You can also choose to receive electronic copies of your EOB. Opt in to have EOBs delivered right to your My Plan Messages inbox!

  5. Spend less on prescriptions. Pharmacy costs don't have to be outrageous. You can save money on prescription drugs by choosing generic drugs over name brands, cutting your medications in half with our pill splitting program and using our drug cost calculator to find cost-effective options. Learn more about managing pharmacy costs.

  6. Save on scans. An MRI scan can range from $540 to $2,000 and a CT scan costs between $230 and $1,200. To make sure you're finding the best cost option possible, ask your doctor, shop around on your own or use our Cost Calculator to determine prices for specific procedures and find Best Choice providers.
