Blood Lead Test
An important part of Child & Teen Checkups is the blood lead test. All children should be tested at 12 and 24 months old and children up to six years of age who have not already been tested.
Lead poisoning can affect your childs growth, brain development and behavior. Unfortunately, its not easy to see early warning signs of leadpoisoning.
Hearing and Vision Screenings
Hearing and vision screenings may not be available at your child's school but they are included in the Child & Teen Checkups. Be sure your child receives these tests, especially if they are not provided by school.
Get your child ready for school.
While you are at the doctor's office, you can find out if your children have all their shots for school. Doctors give tests based on the age, health status and medical history of your child. Check your child's records. If you think a certain test should be given, ask your doctor. Vision and hearing screenings should be part of a child's health exam.
