Calvin U. Allen wins Business Journal's 40 Under Forty Award

HealthPartners executive honored for professional and community achievements

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Calvin U. Allen, senior vice president of HealthPartners Corporate Strategic Planning and Human Resources, has received the 40 Under Forty Award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

"I'm truly honored to receive this award," said Allen. "It is clearly a reflection of the work that our organization is doing to deliver on our mission, and how supportive our leadership team has been in allowing me to give back to our community."

Calvin's career in management, business development and financial services includes positions at Watson Wyatt Worldwide, Cargill, GE Capital Corporation and Price Waterhouse. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Professional Achievements
Under Calvin's leadership, HealthPartners received the Twin Cities 2006 Great Places to Work Award from The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal also honored him in June 2006 as a Twin Cities Minority Business Leader under the corporate executive category.

Calvin has been instrumental in driving HealthPartners' focus on improving employee engagement and satisfaction. HealthPartners 2008 all-employee survey showed improvement on all 15 measures since 2004, which is when Calvin began working at HealthPartners.

Community Service
Most recently, Calvin has been serving as Advisory Council Chair of The Partnership for the Minneapolis Saint Paul: More to Life campaign where he helps diverse business leaders get linked in to the community. He is a board member for the Greater Twin Cities UnitedWay and serves as the chair of the human capital committee. He is also a board member of the South West area YMCA and is a member of the Sanctuary Covenant Church strategic planning and stewardship committee and serves as acting treasurer.
