HealthPartners top rated plan for third year in business report
Study measures quality, efficiency
September 8, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – HealthPartners is the top rated plan in the state and the national benchmark in three categories according to a new business report that compares the quality and efficiency of Minnesota's major health plans. HealthPartners is the top rated plan nationally for pharmaceutical management, health information technology and provider measurement for its HMO and for its open access plans. In addition, HealthPartners is the top rated plan in the state in areas including primary prevention and health promotion and behavioral health. The report is sponsored by the National Business Coalition on Health, Watson Wyatt Worldwide and the Buyers Health Care Action Group, a Twin Cities-based employer purchasing coalition.
"We have partnered with providers across Minnesota, western Wisconsin and in our own medical group to make sure our members get great care, and improved health at an affordable price," said Andrea Walsh, HealthPartners executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
The study is based on data collected through eValue8, a tool to help employers evaluate and compare network and open access health plans. Companies that use eValue8 include General Mills, 3M, Cargill, Medtronic, the State of Minnesota, Ford Motor Company and Target.
The report compares cost and quality from 249 U.S. health plans including five in Minnesota. HealthPartners ranked first in the state in all areas for its network plan and it is the top plan in five out of ten areas for its open access plan in Minnesota.
