HealthPartners Opens Clinic in Hennepin County Government Center
November 27, 2006
Bloomington, Minn. — HealthPartners today announced that it has opened a new clinic called "HealthPartners Well@Work Hennepin" in the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. The clinic, which exclusively serves Hennepin County employees, their families and retirees, is a partnership between HealthPartners and Hennepin County HealthWorks. The clinic is the first HealthPartners Clinic of its kind in the Twin Cities. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on the lower level of the Hennepin County Government Center today at noon.
The new clinic offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of minor acute conditions such as colds, flu, gastro-intestinal disorders, headache and services such as blood draws and blood pressure checks for patients managing chronic conditions (see services list below). Clinic services complement and are linked with employee wellness services offered by Hennepin County HealthWorks. Employees schedule appointments online or by phone.
Clinic staff includes a certified physician's assistant and certified medical assistant staff. If a patient arrives with a serious medical condition, clinic staff will refer the patient to the appropriate healthcare provider. A physician will be available for consultation for Well@Work-Hennepin staff at all times.
"When healthcare services are proactive, easily accessible and appropriate, employees get the right care at the right time," said Marcus Thygeson, M.D., HealthPartners vice president and associate medical director for consumer health solutions. "This approach not only keeps the workforce healthy, it helps improve employee productivity and keeps healthcare expenditures down."
Thygeson notes that American employers spend more than $300 billion annually on health insurance for employees and that costs continue to rise. He says innovative approaches to care such as Well@Work-Hennepin can contribute to lowering employer healthcare costs by focusing on the overall health and wellness of employees.
Clinic hours The Well@Work-Hennepin clinic is available exclusively to Hennepin County employees, their families and retirees Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
