HealthPartners chooses SpecialtyScripts as specialty pharmaceutical provider

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – HealthPartners today announced that starting October 1, 2008, SpecialtyScripts Pharmacy Services will manage the service and delivery of most specialty medications for the Bloomington-based family of healthcare companies.
"HealthPartners is always exploring ways to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and outcomes of our programs," said Rick Bruzek, vice president of pharmacy services, HealthPartners. "Our members will benefit from improved care and service as a result of this change."
Specialty pharmaceuticals are mainly injectable drugs prescribed to treat chronic, and often rare, illnesses.
Both HealthPartners and SpecialtyScripts will be reaching out to members and physicians to ensure they are able to continue to receive their prescriptions uninterrupted.
"This new partnership will result in better service for both our patients and providers," said Carrie Tichey, senior director of provider relations and contracting, HealthPartners.
