July 15, 2009

St. Paul, Minn. - Jon McIver, MD, neurosurgeon, and Terry Barclay, PhD, LP, neuropsychologist, recently joined HealthPartners Medical Group. Both physicians will practice at Regions Hospital and the HealthPartners Specialty Center.

Dr. McIver specializes in functional neurosurgery, including deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, such as Parkinsons disease. He will also enhance Regions growing elective and trauma practice with his expertise in general neurosurgery and spine procedures.

With a medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Dr. McIver completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he was also a Clinical Research Scholar in their Center for Patient Oriented Research. His neurosurgery fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery was completed at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Barclay's practice focuses on the neuropsychology of normal aging, early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, and geriatric psychology. He will assess patients with memory difficulties in the Center for Dementia and Alzheimer's Care located at HealthPartners Specialty Center. Dr. Barclay will also conduct research within the Alzheimer's Research Center at Regions Hospital.

Dr. Barclay completed his doctoral training in clinical psychology at Michigan State University with residency training in geropsychology at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. He is a graduate of the neuropsychology postdoctoral fellowship program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

The HealthPartners and Regions neuroscience service line continues to expand. Regions Department of Neurosurgery now consists of five neurosurgeons and one orthopaedic spine surgeon, while the innovative Center for Dementia and Alzheimer's Care provides family-centered dementia care that augments the groundbreaking research conducted by the Alzheimer's Research Center.
