Regions report: 141 days until GAMC is eliminated
October 9, 2009
Every week, Regions Hospital cares for about 240 people who qualify for GAMC at an estimated cost of $23 million per year. The loss of GAMC could increase the cost of uncompensated care at Regions by nearly 50 percent. If the state does not replace GAMC, Regions Hospital has two difficult choices: raise prices which would result in higher premiums or cut vital medical services.
