What if my physician prescribes a drug not listed on the formulary. Do I have access to medications that are not on the formulary?
In some cases, you may need a drug that is not on the formulary. Your doctor can request that an exception be made so the non-formulary item can be covered. The clinical pharmacy staff reviews these requests and decides when a coverage exception is warranted. Generally, the decision will be made the same day as the request was made by your doctor.
