HealthPartners Sleep Health Center Technologist Appointed to National Committee

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., - HealthPartners Sleep Health Center quality and systems specialist and registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT), Brian Fisher, was recently appointed to the standards and guidelines committee for the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST). The AAST is a national association of professionals dedicated to improving the quality of sleep and wakefulness of all people.

The HealthPartners Sleep Health Center, a department of Regions Hospital, treats people with sleep disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea and narcolepsy. The center, which integrates innovative technology with patient care, conducted more than 2,000 sleep studies in 2006.

As a member of the eight-person AAST standards and guidelines committee, Fisher will help advance the standards for sleep study practices, techniques and technology. The goal is to ensure consistent and high-quality care for all patients nationwide who are afflicted with a sleep-related illness.
