HealthPartners leader named to national quality panel

Associate Medical Director Kealey will help determine quality measures

October 20, 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The National Quality Forum has appointed Burke Kealey, MD, HealthPartners associate medical director, to its Patient Outcomes Main Steering Committee.

Kealey will be part of a committee looking to identify and endorse measures for public reporting and quality improvement that specifically address patient outcomes of health care. The group will focus on measures that represent the 21 most common conditions, including chronic kidney disease, diabetes and several types of cancers.

"I'm extremely honored to be selected to serve on this committee," said Kealey. "The work we do will have a direct impact on improving our population's health and that's pretty exciting."

Kealey is one of 21 members of the committee, which also includes representatives from the Mayo Clinic, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the National Breast Cancer Coalition. The committee expects to be ready to accept public comment on its work by next spring.
