NCQA recognizes HealthPartners for measuring and reporting provider performance

September 24, 2007

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The National Committee for Quality Assurance awarded HealthPartners its Quality Plus Distinction for Physician and Hospital Quality. Quality Plus Distinction, recognizes organizations that lead the market in measuring the quality and cost of care provided by network physicians and hospitals. Health plans voluntarily participate in the program and HealthPartners was an early adopter of the Quality Plus standards.

The NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to measuring the quality of Americas health care.

The Quality Plus standards recognize HealthPartners involvement in Minnesota Community Measurement, a nonprofit organization that annually reports quality results in collaboration with Minnesota's health plans and the Minnesota Medical Association.

HealthPartners.com has information about quality and cost for 145 procedures, conditions and services. Consumers can search for providers by name, gender, specialty, zip code, hospital affiliation or condition.

"This is important for consumers because it gives them information to make smart decisions about their health care," said Babette Apland, HealthPartners senior vice president for health and care management.
