Winning conference designed to improve health care for returning veterans
Oct. 18, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Alliance for Continuing Medical Education has awarded HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education the 2008 Award for Outstanding Collaboration for their Joining Forces conference. The conference, which took place in April 2007, focused on helping medical professionals identify and treat specific health issues our returning veterans face.
"We are honored to be recognized for our work to improve the lives of America's returning soldiers," said Dr. Carl Patow, executive director of HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education. "The Joining forces conference brought together health professionals and key organizations concerned with family, social, medical and behavioral issues related to returning home."
The Award for Outstanding Collaboration is given each year to the organization that best demonstrates innovations or uniqueness in achieving effective collaboration for continuing medical education. HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education partnered with The Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Army National Guard and the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs hospital to design and host the conference.
