Preventive care recommendations

Plus, you often won’t pay anything when you get preventive care in network. That makes preventive care both a great deal today and a gift to your future self tomorrow.

How to get preventive care

Ready to take the next step? Here are some ways to connect with a care provider so you can get the right preventive care for you. (And don’t forget: In-network preventive care is typically 100% covered.)

Your first stop for preventive care will usually be a doctor or clinician who works in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine or a similar specialty. If you see a health professional regularly, ask about preventive care at your next visit. Don’t see someone regularly? Don’t worry – covered providers are available nearby.

If you're an adult in eastern Minnesota or western Wisconsin, we’ve created the first-ever Hybrid Preventive Care option that lets you start your experience online, receive a personalized Preventive Care Plan and connect to in-person care. After you complete your assessment, we’ll help you schedule appointments for labs, cancer screenings and vaccinations.

Not sure where to start? We’re here to make things easier. Our Member Services team can answer questions about your preventive care benefits, help you get in touch with a covered provider near you and much more.

Additional information

Preventive services are based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).

The screenings and immunizations listed on this webpage are routinely recommended. Talk with your doctor or clinician about what care is best for you, based on your personal and family history.

Preventive services are usually covered 100% – this means you may pay nothing for these services when you’re seen at a clinic in your plan’s network. However, the information on this webpage is not an authorization for coverage. In addition, if at a preventive care visit you receive non-preventive services (like care for pre-existing conditions, family health history or current symptoms), you may be billed for those services. If you have questions about your plan’s coverage, check your plan documents or contact Member Services for more help.

Your risk for some diseases is based on your sex assigned at birth, which we understand may not be the same as your gender identity. We encourage talking with your doctor or clinician about recommended preventive services if you’re transgender or intersex.
