Welcome to HealthPartners Hospice & Palliative Care Bereavement Services. The fact that you are here probably means that someone important in your life has died, or is near death, and you are looking for some resources to help you deal with this difficult time. Seeking such help can be a challenging experience, especially if this is your first experience with such a significant loss. We’ll do our best to provide you with support and resources that will be of help to you during this time. Listed below are services offered:

  • Bereavement Services: Family members and/or friends of patients who die while in our program continue to receive services for 13 months following the death. Included in those services is a memorial candle sent in honor of the deceased individual, letters of support from our bereavement staff and supportive phone calls and/or face-to-face meetings with members of our bereavement staff.
  • The Grief Journey: HealthPartners Hospice & Palliative Care Adult Grief Education and Support Program. This 6-week bereavement support group is offered three times a year (generally February–March, May–June and September–October) at various locations around the Twin Cities Metro area. Dates and locations for 2011 are yet to be determined. Updated information will be posted as it becomes available.
  • The Men’s Group: This support group meets one Saturday a month from 10–11:30 a.m., September through May, at a location in St. Paul. Designed exclusively for men who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life, this group provides an informal setting in which men can talk about issues related to their loss.
  • Families Growing Through Grief Retreat Weekend: Designed for families where one of the parents has died, this unique 2-day retreat provides an opportunity for the surviving parent and his/her children ages 3–18 to spend time with other families in similar circumstances. Co-sponsored by five metro area hospice programs, the programming at the retreat allows families to spend time together as well as with age-specific groups to process the loss they have experienced. The next Families Growing Through Grief Retreat will be held October 15–16, 2011. Additional information will be posted when it becomes available.
