Tradition of  NCQA Excellence Continues

HealthPartners delivers true value to your clients. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has again awarded HealthPartners “Excellent” accreditation status for both its commercial HMO/POS and Medicare Advantage product lines.

NCQA’s rigorous accreditation program evaluates how our managed care plans are organized and operated. Teams of doctors and other industry experts compare plans to more than 60 different standards. The survey evaluates medical procedures and outcomes, as well as provider credentials and customer satisfaction with their health plan. Categories include: Access and Service, Qualified Providers, Staying Healthy, Getting Better and Living with Illness.

To earn “Excellent” status, a plan must achieve a combined score of more than 90 points out of 100.

Medicare Advantage       96.00

Once again, HealthPartners’ scores in disease management, women’s health, children’s health and preventive services were exceptionally high. These outstanding scores are the direct result of our integrated approach to coordination of care for disease management and pay for performance initiatives which reward provider performance.
How does this apply to my clients? Since half of all HMO programs are NCQA-accredited, HEDIS provides the data you need to evaluate the quality of the different plans you present to clients so that they can make coverage decisions based on demonstrated value.

Small Group Rate Changes

First quarter 2007 small group medical index rates (.75 and 1.25 tables) reflect a 2.5% increase for both Minnesota and Wisconsin plans. The small group dental for January to June of 2007 will show a 4% increase over the rates for July to December of 2006. New cheat sheets reflecting these changes will be available soon for Metro, Greater MN and Wisconsin clients. Stay tuned!

Did you know that individuals can take advantage of our alliance with CIGNA HealthCare? They can!  Our Individual commercial plans are convenient and cost effective. So keep us in mind whether you’re selling to 1 or 1,000.

More Frequent Fitness Changes

Starting January 1, 2007, members will have to work just a little harder to participate in our Frequent Fitness program. Members must work out 12 times per month (rather than eight) to earn their $20 discount on health club dues. Why are we making this change? Because studies show that adults averaging three workouts per week are healthier, enjoy better quality of life and go to the doctor less often. The financial result is fewer copays, fewer doctor visits and reduced medical expenses, which ultimately means a more productive workforce and lower health care claims for your clients.

New Jump Start – Coming in 2007

Do your clients know that Jump Start will be even bigger and better in 2007? That’s right – we’re increasing our incentive offerings to encourage new and repeat participants. In the meantime, don’t forget to remind your clients that the current Jump Start promotion ends on October 31, 2006.

Make sure your clients encourage their employees to enroll now to take advantage of the program and the current incentive. We will be promoting the new program to members in November. Members can then re-enroll in the program in 2007 to take advantage of the new incentive offer.
