Community partners and colleagues gathered to celebrate the topping off of the new HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital and HealthPartners Specialty Center, marking the placement of the facility’s final steel beam.
The topping off milestone is a tradition that celebrates the work completed and symbolizes good fortune and safety as construction continues. Work now shifts toward enclosing the building and advancing exterior and interior construction, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The new hospital campus is planned to open in 2028.
“Today’s ceremony marks a construction milestone, but it’s really about the people we serve,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO, HealthPartners. “With this new facility, patients and families will have exceptional care close to home, our members will have access to the care and coverage they count on, and our communities will be healthier for generations to come.”
“We’ve been so incredibly grateful to community members and colleagues who’ve been so engaged with us on this project,” says Brandi Lunneborg, president of Lakeview Health and St. Croix Valley executive leader. “More than 140 years of service to Stillwater and surrounding communities is a legacy that matters to us, and we’re thrilled to pass another milestone on our way to building on the quality care and experience Lakeview is known for.”
The new hospital and specialty center will expand access to essential and specialized care across the St. Croix Valley, east metro and western Wisconsin. The six-story, 400,000-square-foot campus will include a new family birth center and specialty centers for heart, cancer and orthopedics, along with expanded critical care, emergency services, outpatient surgery and same-day imaging.
