HealthPartners hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital on July 10, marking the next phase in the organization’s commitment to advancing health care in the St. Croix Valley.

Construction for the new six-story, 400,000-square-foot hospital and clinic campus will begin this summer and is expected to open to patients in early 2028.

“Our new HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital will be designed with our community’s growth and unique needs in mind,” says Andrea Walsh, president and CEO of HealthPartners. “Our vision is that it will serve this community well, not in just five years, but in 20, 30 and 50 years down the road.”

The new location will offer expanded specialized services like a family birth center, TRIA Orthopedics Clinic, cardiac catheterization lab, cancer care and improved emergency and critical care. Designed with nature views from patient rooms, the hospital includes walking trails connecting to local paths and sustainable practices that preserve over 94 percent of wetlands.

“The empathy and kindness you see and feel when you come to Lakeview Hospital won’t change,” says Brandi Lunneborg, president of Lakeview Hospital. “We’re proud to maintain our incredible culture and the community hospital feel while offering more opportunities to deliver great care and experience to our patients and visitors.”

The site for the new hospital at the northeast corner of Manning Avenue and Highway 36 was acquired in 2017. Design planning halted at the pandemic's onset but resumed in 2022, with architects chosen by late 2023. Over the past 18 months, efforts have concentrated on design development and community engagement.

Construction, which will be led by Kraus-Anderson, is set to begin this summer, with a public open house planned for August. For updates and more information, visit healthpartners.com/lakeviewexpansion.
