Regions Hospital today opened its expanded emergency department at 640 Jackson Street. The remodeled space is designed to support growing demand and help patients get assessed and directed to the right care more quickly.

The Regions emergency department sees more than 100,000 visits each year, and that number is expected to continue rising.

The expansion adds new treatment rooms tailored for different levels of care, more comfortable spaces for patients waiting for test results, a dedicated lobby area for families, and enhanced safety and security features. A majority of these upgrades were funded by donor contributions to the Regions Hospital Foundation.

“This remodel improves how quickly our patients will move through intake, helping them get the right level of care at the right time,” said Emily Blomberg, president of Regions Hospital. “That efficiency also helps support our care teams as we continue meeting the needs of our community.”

The emergency department remains on the south side of the hospital. Patient drop-off is available at the Emergency Entrance facing E. 12th Street. Patients and visitors should continue to park in the South Ramp and take the elevators to the hospital level.

Regions is one of two Level I Trauma Centers serving both adults and children in the Twin Cities, and it’s the only Level I Trauma Center in the east metro. The hospital also offers a wide range of specialty services, including cardiology, OB-GYN and oncology care.
