Meet Karen L. Boortz, PsyD, LP
As a psychologist, I work with patients to achieve their personal goals. It is my belief that therapy is a collaborative process and through a therapeutic relationship which is honest and trusting, patients can increase personal awareness and find healing, balance and acceptance in their life. I have experience working with a variety of clinical concerns and have extensive experience working with individuals suffering with high emotional intensity. I utilize evidenced based techniques which most often draw from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and relational therapy.
Areas of particular interest include- eating disorders, depression, anxiety, managing chronic illness, life transitions, relationship struggles, borderline personality and chemical dependency.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin and have called the Twin Cities home for more than 15 years. I often spend free time with family and friends. I enjoy the daily adventures in life with my husband and three children, including fraternal twins, and a dog. My hobbies include reading, exercise, finding new and unique restaurants and knitting.
