Meet Brenda L.W. Abraham, MD
I am a family practice physician specializing in sports and musculoskeletal medicine. In the past, my practice covered the full spectrum of family medicine, including obstetrics and pediatrics. I really enjoyed it and am glad to have had that opportunity. However, I have also had my Sports Medicine Certification for many years, and now more than half of my practice is sports medicine and primary care orthopedics for all ages, and my family medicine practice is limited to adults.
I enjoy being a primary care physician and establishing those long-term relationships, but I also feel that I can provide a level of expertise for people with muscle and joint problems. Being able to diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and/or complex musculoskeletal issues; perform joint injections; and refer appropriately to physical therapy and surgeons to provide best outcomes for patients is very gratifying. I encourage people to stay active over their lifetime, doing what they love to do if at all possible, and I try to practice what I preach.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, watching my daughter play hockey and lacrosse, and I still play hockey, too. I am very involved locally and nationally in the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA), where I have been the Minnesota representative for many years, and part of the organization's Women in Medicine and Dentistry section. I am blessed to work with great colleagues at Como Clinic and all of HealthPartners!
