Meet Emily Lynn Engelland Bannister, MD
I enjoy working as an occupational medicine physician because I can help patients return to work as quickly as possible from work-related injuries and illnesses. My treatment philosophy is based on patient education and appropriate management as indicated by the ACOEM guidelines. I feel that it is very important to maintain an open line of communication with patients and their employers to coordinate patient care and navigate the complex workers' compensation system and ensure the best outcome. I believe that occupational medicine physicians perform an important service in the evaluation of employment-related physical exams (such as pre-placement and DOT exams); matching candidates with jobs they can safely perform is critical to maintaining a safe, healthy and productive workforce. I also became interested in emergency management as it relates to disaster preparedness and public health while coordinating a community hospital's response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic.
I am originally from the Chicago suburbs and moved here to the Twin Cities in 2011. My husband and I enjoy walking together, especially by the many lakes found in Minnesota. My hobbies include embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and photography.
