Walk in now for back-to-school exams

Have kids participating in fall activities? It’s important to get an early start.

Kids participating in fall activities should get their back-to-school exams well before school starts. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends six weeks. While it might not still be possible for your family to hit that goal, every extra day (or week) can help make a difference for your kids.

The six-week recommendation is meant to give families plenty of time to address health concerns before the first day of school or activities. Back-to-school exams can sometimes uncover new physical or behavioral issues. An early exam also gives you time to order prescription glasses and contacts.

Walk-in exams now available

Bring your kids to a HealthPartners Clinic or Park Nicollet Clinic from July 24 to Sept. 1 for walk-in exams. No appointment is needed. Just stop by a clinic when you're out with your kids running errands. Short waits are possible depending on the time of day. Call ahead to check the current wait time or to schedule an appointment with your favorite doctor.

Exams for all ages

Back-to-school exams are important for kids of all ages. It's much more than an immunization check and filling out a physical exam form. There are big benefits, whether your kids are in band, theater, clubs or other activities. Health and well-being affects performance in all academic and extracurricular activities.

We check your child's total health. We'll answer your questions about stress, behaviors, learning and eating disorders and more. We want your kids well-adjusted and in a good place physically and emotionally. When kids are feeling good inside and out, it really shows.
