HealthPartners CEO: Express gratitude to your family, friends and colleagues
“Reach out and share a kind word or a quick hug”
In light of what is happening in the world right now, our President and CEO Andrea Walsh shared this message with colleagues today.
TO: All colleagues
FROM: Andrea Walsh
Over the past few months we’ve seen raging fires in Canada and the west, Hurricane Harvey in Houston and the terrible earthquake in Mexico. This weekend, as we enjoyed a beautiful fall day in the Midwest, many of us were spellbound watching Florida prepare for another massive hurricane, Hurricane Irma. These natural disasters have caused devastation and destruction to many people. We grieve for friends and family who have been impacted, and for all of the people whose lives have been turned upside down in a matter of hours and days.
Today also marks 16 years since the terrorist attacks on 9/11. As our country honors the thousands of individuals who lost their lives, together we’ll remember the tragedy and also the power of the human spirit. So many people banded together that day, and for weeks and months to come, to help strangers in any way possible. As we’ve seen these natural disasters unfold, we’ve again seen the way volunteers and kindhearted individuals have opened homes, provided rescue and given food and water to those in need.
Today, I hope you will take a minute to express gratitude to your family, friends and colleagues. Reach out and share a kind word or a quick hug – it really makes a difference. And, recognize that our patients, members and one another may be shouldering extra concerns or worries right now. Your help, in big or small ways, goes a long way here at home and around the world.
