Mary Brainerd surprised during meeting with award
Business Journal honors Mary with ‘2017 Women in Business Career Achievement Award’
HealthPartners President and CEO Mary Brainerd received some unexpected recognition this week. She was given the ‘2017 Women in Business Career Achievement Award.’ Mary received the award for her leadership and work in the community.
Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Publisher Kathy Robideau surprised Mary with the news during a meeting.
“While the visit was a surprise, it’s no surprise to any of us who know Mary,” said Andrea Walsh, executive vice president for HealthPartners. “No one is more deserving to receive this recognition.”
When asked about the award, Mary said, “It’s a wonderful recognition of the work we do. I always feel like we all do the work together. It’s a recognition of the work that we collectively accomplish.”
This year's awards honor 51 women. Also named was Luz María Frías, president and CEO of the YWCA of Minneapolis and secretary of our board of directors. See the full list of winners here: 2017 Women in Business.
Mary was also recently named one of Modern Healthcare’s “Top 25 Women in Healthcare” for a second year in a row.
