TRIA Orthopaedic Center Offers Athletic Training for All Athletes

New Athletic Training Room provides injury evaluation, treatment, prevention

March 17, 2015

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — March 17, 2015 — While professional, college, and high school athletes have access to athletic trainers to prevent, evaluate, and treat their injuries; the majority of the everyday active population does not have that same luxury. For this reason, TRIA Orthopaedic Center (TRIA) has created a solution for athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, with the introduction of its new Athletic Training Room.

Similar to the types of services provided by athletic trainers in professional or school sports, TRIA’s Athletic Training Room offers a variety of injury evaluation, treatment, and prevention services for $10 per visit.

“It is not uncommon that a patient with a mild ankle sprain or sore shoulder hopes it will get better on its own or will wait until it gets worse before they seek medical care,” said certified athletic trainer Lisa Schniepp. “We want to offer a service that allows a place for those people to receive an orthopaedic evaluation and medical advice from a trained professional to get them back on the road to recovery early and prevent re-injury.”

Services offered through the Athletic Training Room include injury evaluation, taping techniques, coordination of care including patient education, home exercises, and treatment protocols. Patients that may need additional or more comprehensive care will have quick access to physicians, physical therapy, and/or other specialty services.

“We recognized there is an active population in the area that may be underserved and does not always have access to this type of care,” said Schniepp. “In youth sports or adult recreation, every participant deserves high level care available, similar to our professional, collegiate and high school athletes. That was our goal when we set out to open an athletic training room to the public.”

TRIA’s Athletic Training Room is open Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m.–6:30 p.m., Friday from 2:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Patients are encouraged to call ahead for an appointment or with questions. Same day appointments are also available. Visit https://tria.com/services/sports-medicine/athletic-training-room-services for more information.
