myHP mobile app from HealthPartners gains Touch ID

Fingerprint recognition scanner brings added convenience for members, patients

March 19, 2015

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — March 19, 2015 — HealthPartners today announced the introduction of Touch ID, a fingerprint recognition feature available on select Apple devices, to its myHP mobile app. It’s the first health plan in the Twin Cities region to integrate fingerprint recognition with an app, bringing added convenience to members and patients who have an online account.

“We are always looking for new ways to improve the experience for individuals and families,” says Shannon Beaudin Klein, vice president of marketing and communications. “This newest addition is the latest in a long line of technology enhancements we’ve introduced to make it easier for our members and patients to quickly and conveniently access health care information when and where it’s needed.”

With Touch ID enabled, myHP users can simply log on to the app’s mobile experience by placing their fingertip on their device’s fingerprint reader. The reader is able to securely store, scan and verify the unique ridges of a fingertip to authenticate the user without requiring a username and password.

Once logged on to myHP, members and patients can find care locations, schedule and manage appointments, access their member ID card, view test results and immunization records, refill prescriptions and view plan balance information, among other capabilities.

Touch ID is available on iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 running iOS8. The myHP mobile app is available on the Apple App Store. Visit healthpartners.com/gomobile to learn more about our mobile services.
