Award recognizes organizations that promote employee health and well-being

July 17, 2015

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – July 17, 2015 – HealthPartners, Park Nicollet and TRIA Orthopaedic Center have been named recipients of this year’s Wellness by Design Award for excellence in worksite wellness. The award is presented by Hennepin County to organizations that have demonstrated strong commitment to creating a healthy work environment.

“We are honored to be recognized for our organizations commitment to the health and well-being of our employees,” said Calvin U. Allen, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Human Resources. “We are deliberate about creating an environment where each person can bring their best to work and feel supported in doing so. Our health and well-being focus is central to creating a great culture.”

HealthPartners as an organization has taken the initiative to integrate the importance of health and well-being into their work culture in a variety of ways. One way HealthPartners has done this is by creating a health and wellness brand, Be Well. The Be Well campaign encourages employees to spend time focusing on ways to think and talk about health and well-being throughout the day and in their lives outside of work. In addition to the Be Well brand, HealthPartners recently made the decision to decrease availability of sugar-sweetened beverages organization wide, effective January 1, 2016.

The award is presented in four levels (platinum, gold, silver, bronze) to Hennepin County employers who demonstrate a culture that successfully incorporates management support, wellness infrastructure, assessment, evaluation, communication and programming.

In total, 81 organizations received the Wellness by Design Award in 2015. Along with this year’s win, HealthPartners has won the award consecutively since 2007, Park Nicollet since 2009, and TRIA in 2013. In 2013, Hennepin County changed the award from annual to every two years.
