Mary Brainerd named to “100 Most Influential in Healthcare” list

National honor recognizes HealthPartners president and CEO’s industry leadership, impact

August 26, 2015

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Modern Healthcare magazine has named Mary Brainerd, president and chief executive officer for HealthPartners, to its "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" list for 2015. The national honor recognizes individuals whose leadership is having an impact on the health care industry.

"This honor is further validation of Mary’s commitment to fulfilling our mission and vision for those we serve," says Donald Lewis, Chair for HealthPartners Board of Directors. "Similar to our more than 22,500 team members, Mary is steadfast in her commitment to improve health care for our members, patients and the community. We're fortunate to have a leader with her vision who is so highly regarded and respected, both locally and nationally."

This year marks the second time Brainerd has appeared on the 100 Most Influential list (2013). She appears alongside a range of policy makers, health care system leaders, insurance executives and other officials, including President Barack Obama, John Roberts, Chief Justice of the United States, and Sylvia Mathews Burwell, U.S. secretary of Health and Human Services, to name a few.

Thousands of candidates were considered by Modern Healthcare for this recognition. The final list was determined through both a reader voting process and an editorial panel review, and was published in the magazine's Aug. 24 issue. In addition to this honor, Modern Healthcare recognized Brainerd as one of the "Top 25 Women in Healthcare" earlier this year.
