HealthPartners expands virtuwell online clinic to North Dakota

Provides 24/7 online diagnosis, treatment and prescriptions for simple conditions

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Jan. 3, 2014 — Residents of North Dakota and anyone traveling within North Dakota will now be able to go online to access high-quality care for common medical conditions at any time of the day or night — including receiving a prescription when appropriate.

virtuwell^® is a 24/7 online clinic treating more than 40 common conditions and costs $45 or less depending on insurance. Consumers, employers and health plans can effectively reduce their health care costs when virtuwell is selected for care of simple conditions.

North Dakota is the fourth state in which virtuwell has been introduced. Over 80,000 customers in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan have received treatment plans from virtuwell since the clinic launched in late 2010. Among the conditions that can be treated by virtuwell are: Sinus infections, bladder infections, pink eye, the flu, upper respiratory infections, yeast infection, ear pain, allergies, bronchitis, acne, poison ivy/poison oak, rashes, diaper rash, first and second degree burns, sunburn, swimmer’s ear and lice. All are conditions that can be treated safely and reliably online and don’t require a physical exam or a lab test.
