HealthPartners extends deadline for individual and family plans

Dec. 31 enrollment deadline for Jan. 1 coverage the result of high consumer demand

December 12, 2014

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Dec. 12, 2014 — To meet high consumer demand, HealthPartners today announced that it is extending the enrollment deadline for its individual health plans purchased directly from HealthPartners to Dec. 31, 2014, for coverage effective on Jan. 1, 2015. The extension comes as call volumes are higher compared to last year, and new member enrollment is on pace to far exceed 2013.

“We want to make sure everyone has the time they need to select and enroll in a plan directly from us,” says Andrea Walsh, executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “We’re seeing a huge jump in online enrollments this year because it’s so easy and intuitive. We are also fully staffed to make sure we can answer questions and help people pick the right plan for themselves and their family.”

“We’ve seen a 30 percent call increase since last year at this time,” explains Walsh. “We anticipated higher volumes and prepared for it. To help consumers pick a plan and enroll, HealthPartners extended its call center hours and added customer service representatives. While call center volumes are significantly higher, wait times are right around 10 seconds with an abandonment rate close to zero.”

On top of that, nearly 75 percent of new members have enrolled online.

The open enrollment period for individual and family health insurance ends on Feb. 15, 2015. To learn more, or to shop for a plan, contact 877-838-4949 or visit healthpartners.com/findaplan.
