October 8, 2021

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – All HealthPartners Medicare plans have been awarded an overall 5 out of 5-Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2022. These strong results mean all HealthPartners Medicare members will be enrolled in a 5-star plan for 2022. This includes Medicare insurance plans in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Plans that earned a 5-star rating include:

  • HealthPartners® Journey (PPO) and HealthPartners® Robin (PPO) Medicare Advantage
  • HealthPartners UnityPoint Health (PPO) Medicare Advantage
  • HealthPartners® Freedom (Cost)
  • HealthPartners® Minnesota Senior Health Options (MSHO) (HMO SNP)
  • HealthPartners® Retiree National Choice Prescription Drug Plan

"We're proud to be able to provide the very best care, coverage and service to our members and patients," said Andrea Walsh, president & CEO, HealthPartners. "Earning 5 stars across the board for our Medicare plans is an incredible accomplishment. These top ratings reflect the hard work of our teams who continue to set the bar high."

The CMS publishes Star Ratings* each year to measure the quality of health and pharmacy services for Medicare enrollees and rate plan performance between 1 and 5 stars. A 5-star rating is considered excellent. It scores a series of clinical and performance measures including quality of care, member experience, health plan administration and customer service. Medicare consumers can use Star Ratings when shopping for a plan during Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) (Oct. 15-Dec. 7) or when they become eligible for Medicare coverage.

This is the second year in a row that HealthPartners MSHO plan earned 5 stars. Last year, HealthPartners became the first and only MSHO plan in Minnesota to receive 5 stars.

HealthPartners is expanding its service area for Medicare Advantage to 48 new counties in 2022, including 44 new counties in Minnesota. With this expansion, the 5-star Medicare Advantage plans will be available in 121 counties throughout Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.
