HeathPartners recognized as a top health system in the country

IBM Watson Health annual evaluation distinguishes excellence in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and patient experience

April 29, 2021

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – For the fifth year in a row, HealthPartners has been named a Top 15 Health System in the nation by IBM Watson Health.

The annual study from IBM Watson Health evaluates more than 300 health systems and 2,500 hospitals within those systems to determine the top performing organizations in the nation. Compared to other health systems, top performers had fewer patient deaths, fewer infections and complications, lower readmission rates, shorter length of stay, higher patient satisfaction and lower costs.

“Our commitment to providing high-quality care and great patient experiences at a more affordable cost is at the core of our mission and vision,” said Andrea Walsh, HealthPartners President and CEO. “I’m proud of our clinicians and care teams whose commitment to excellence makes recognition like this possible, and I’m grateful to our members and patients who put their trust in us each and every day.”

In addition, HealthPartners’ Methodist Hospital has been named a Top 100 hospital by IBM Watson Health. This is the sixth time Methodist has been recognized among the nation’s top performing hospitals.

“We are proud of all of the hospitals, health systems and their dedicated clinicians and staff,” said Irene Dankwa-Mullan, MD, MPH, Chief Health Equity Officer and Deputy Chief Health officer at IBM Watson Health. “These organizations demonstrate a relentless commitment to high value, patient-centered care and innovation and we applaud them for their dedication and achievements.”
