Hutchinson Health announces plans to join HealthPartners

September 13, 2017

HUTCHINSON, Minn. and BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Hutchinson Health board of directors today announced its intent for the organization to join HealthPartners. The affiliation will bring together two strong organizations and expands capabilities to better serve patients and the community. Hutchinson Health will retain its name and remain a distinct, locally-governed entity as part of HealthPartners.

“We believe that the best care is delivered close to home when possible, and we looked for a partnership that would strengthen our ability to serve our community and broaden access to convenient specialty services in our area,” said Steven Mulder, MD, president and CEO of Hutchinson Health. “We were impressed with the culture of HealthPartners, their level of achievement in providing quality, cost-effective care, and their commitment to the communities they serve.”

With a 66-bed, Level 3 Trauma Center, including 12 mental health beds, and primary and specialty clinics, Hutchinson Health has a five-decade tradition of providing excellent care in its community.

“Through our conversations, we’ve found that our organizations share like-minded missions and cultures, with similar goals for high-quality, affordable care that’s local,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO of HealthPartners. “We are excited by the opportunity to sustain and strengthen Hutchinson Health’s rich history as an outstanding community partner. We are committed to increasing access to top specialists, technology and services in Hutchinson and central Minnesota.”

The organizations expect to finalize the affiliation in 2018.
