Principal Investigator: Thomas Martens, MD
Study Sponsor: Dexcom, Inc.
Location: International Diabetes Center
Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to see if blood glucose control is different using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) compared to those who use a blood glucose meter, for people who have type 2 diabetes and are taking insulin injections every day. A CGM is a device that measures glucose levels every 5 minutes. The study will be using the Dexcom G6 CGM system. The study team will work with participants’ usual health care providers, giving information about their study glucose and options for improving their diabetes management.
The study is accepting men and women ages 30 or older who:
– Have type 2 diabetes and are taking long-acting insulin injections every day
– Have an A1C of 8.0-11.5%
– Have not used a personal continuous glucose monitor (CGM) in the past 6 months and are willing to use a CGM during the study
– Have a smart phone and willing to use a phone app
– Meet other study specific requirements
