That\u2019s because we conduct research in partnership with neurological care. Our studies take place in HealthPartners Neuroscience Center, Struthers Parkinson\u2019s Center, Regions Hospital, Methodist Hospital as well as several clinics. This connection between research and care offers patients access to innovative programs that improve outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>We are active in clinical trials \u2013 testing drugs as well as delivery methods. We also study technology, yoga, mindfulness, acupuncture and exercise as ways to improve pain management, cognition and mobility. And we connect patients with programs and education to support them and their families after recovery from a stroke and other cognitive disorders with care, research, community resources and caretaker support.<\/p>\n<h2>Key areas<\/h2>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"box border-blue bg-light-gray \" \/>\n<h3>Advancing clinical trials<\/h3>\n<p>Our clinical research aims to better prevent, treat and ultimately cure life-altering neurological diseases. Trials in Alzheimer\u2019s and Parkinson\u2019s disease, essential tremors, stroke and more offer hope to the many patients and families affected by these conditions. And review our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthpartners.com\/institute\/research\/studies\/category\/neuroscience\/\">active trials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"box border-darkblue bg-light-gray \" \/>\n<h3>Intranasal delivery of therapeutics<\/h3>\n<p>We found that drugs given through the nose can travel directly to the brain along the nerves of the brain cells responsible for the sense of smell. This drastically changed the way we can treat all brain and spine disorders, allowing us to non-invasively give nerve growth proteins, peptides and therapeutic cells. This has shaped studies in Alzheimer&#8217;s as well as traumatic brain injury.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"box border-violet bg-light-gray \" \/>\n<h3>Center for Memory and Aging<\/h3>\n<p>Memory\u00a0and other\u00a0cognitive disorders such as dementia,\u00a0Alzheimer\u2019s disease and age-related memory loss\u00a0bring daily challenges for patients and their loved ones. Our center\u2019s health care and research teams help patients and families manage those challenges. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthpartners.com\/institute\/centers\/neuroscience-research-center\/center-for-memory-and-aging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more about our research<\/a> and how we aim to discover new treatments for patients with memory loss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"box border-green bg-light-gray \" \/>\n<h3>Brain and spinal cord injury<\/h3>\n<p>Research in this area focuses on neurorehabilitation, the Minnesota Regional Spinal Cord Injury Model System at Regions Hospital, acupuncture and exercise programs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"\" class=\"box border-blue bg-light-gray \" \/>\n<h3>Parkinson&#8217;s disease<\/h3>\n<p>Our research through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthpartners.com\/care\/specialty-centers\/struthers-parkinsons-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Struthers Parkinson\u2019s Center<\/a>\u00a0improves treatment and care for patients with Parkinson\u2019s disease and related disorders.
