A managed care pharmacy residency will provide systematic training of pharmacists to achieve professional competence in the delivery of patient care and managed care pharmacy practice.<\/p>\n<p>At HealthPartners we provide our residents with a strong foundation in patient care to make them better managed care pharmacists. A solid understanding of the care delivery system gives context to our commitment to creating innovative ways to deliver on the triple aim. Residents will gain a strong understanding of the interrelationship between the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM), the health plan, the employer group, government payers and the care delivery system.<\/p>\n<p>Our residency program provides residents with multiple learning experiences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Formulary Management<\/li>\n<li>Disease and Utilization Management<\/li>\n<li>Health Plan Operations<\/li>\n<li>Specialty Pharmacy<\/li>\n<li>Prior Authorization<\/li>\n<li>Leadership<\/li>\n<li>Quality Management<\/li>\n<li>Patient Care<\/li>\n<li>Teaching<\/li>\n<li>Research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information about our program, please make sure to view the program brochure linked below.<\/p>\n<h2>Goals<\/h2>\n<p>During the residency program, residents can expect to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Participate\u00a0<\/strong>in the design or redesign of disease management and medication therapy management programs for patient populations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribute\u00a0<\/strong>to the ongoing development of the managed care organization\u2019s formularies<\/li>\n<li><strong>Understand\u00a0<\/strong>the interrelationship of the pharmacy benefit management company, the health plan, the employer group and the delivery system functions of managed care<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recognize\u00a0<\/strong>how the managed care organization contracts with community pharmacies to form effective networks to fulfill the drug therapy needs of members<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be aware\u00a0<\/strong>of the organization\u2019s process for contracting with pharmaceutical manufacturers<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exercise\u00a0<\/strong>practice leadership<\/li>\n<li><strong>Provide<\/strong>, document and bill for medication therapy management services delivered in an outpatient setting<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teach\u00a0<\/strong>and precept pharmacy students and collaborate with other pharmacy residents through the University of Minnesota<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Program Director<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthpartners.com\/knowledgeexchange\/display\/n2082\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Rehrauer, PharmD<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Application deadline and requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants must submit an application via the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.phorcas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service\u00a0(PhORCAS).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Application materials include curriculum vitae, college of pharmacy transcripts, three letters of recommendation and a cover letter describing career goals and reasons for applying to the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program.<\/p>\n<p>All application materials must be received by the specified deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Only candidates who have graduated from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy are eligible to apply for the residency.<\/p>\n<p>For deadlines and up-to-date information, visit the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.phorcas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PhORCAS<\/a><\/u>\u00a0website.
