Ways to receive telehealth care
When you need to see a doctor or specialist, you don’t necessarily need to visit your clinic. Often, you have the option to meet with your doctor through a virtual visit.
All HealthPartners Medicare plans cover telehealth, also known as virtual visits. If your care team offers virtual visits, you can see your doctors and specialists in a way that’s convenient for you.
Types of telehealth appointments
There are four types of telehealth appointments that may be available to you:
- Video visits – Using the camera in your computer, tablet or smartphone, you can meet face to face with your doctor. You can get personalized care, expert answers and a tailored treatment plan all from the comfort of your own home.
- Phone visits – Meet with your doctor over the phone for initial or follow-up visits.
- E-visits – Connect with your doctor using your computer, tablet or smartphone. Through direct web messaging, you can get non-urgent medical advice without making a trip to the clinic.
- Digital virtual care (like Virtuwell) – With digital virtual care, you can fill out an online questionnaire about symptoms you’re experiencing and get a professionally reviewed treatment plan, including prescriptions when needed. Available 24/7,

If you have Original Medicare, telehealth visits fall under Medicare Part B (medical insurance). Once you meet your Part B deductible, you’ll pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for each telehealth visit.
