Personal Profile

I am proud to practice ophthalmology at HealthPartners. I enjoy seeing patients with a wide variety of conditions, including but not limited to, cataract, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eye and emergencies such as eye infections and flashes and floaters. I also do routine eye exams including checking glasses (refractions). The most common surgery I perform is cataract surgery (phacoemulsification, manual small incision, and laser for secondary cataract). Other examples of surgeries and procedures I perform include surgery on the surface of the eye (pterygium, foreign body removal, diagnostic corneal culture), minor eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty, eyelid lesion excision, and chalazion incision and debridement) and glaucoma lasers (laser peripheral iridotomy and laser trabeculoplasty). Our practice is unique in that we provide emergency eye care coverage for Regions Hospital, which is a Level I Trauma Center.

Minnesota is my home. I was born and raised in Saint Cloud. During my residency training at the Mayo Clinic, I met my wife, Alexia Knapp, who is a HealthPartners dermatologist. My wife and I have two young boys. My interests include music, biking, skiing and travel.

I am a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and a board member of the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology (MAO).
