Prior authorization is not applicable for outdoor behavioral health programs because they are not covered as they are considered experimental.
Outdoor behavioral health programs are considered investigational/experimental and are therefore not covered.
Outdoor behavioral healthcare (OBH) is a mental health intervention for adolescents with emotional, adjustment, addiction, and psychological problems. OBH programs utilize a number of elements. These include immersion in an unfamiliar environment, group living with peers, individual and group therapy session, and educational curricula including backcountry travel and wilderness living skills.
