Personal profile

I was born and raised in South Minneapolis, the last of five children. I am the youngest of a set of fraternal twin girls. My desire has always been to serve my community and my first thought was to become a police officer. Over time, those thoughts changed into wanting to be a doctor. My mother was a nurse and my brother is a doctor, so it was a natural choice. I went to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. I then went on to Mayo Medical School in Rochester and fell in love with my rotations in internal medicine. I wanted to be a generalist treating adults at all ages.

My special interest is in endocrinology, and I have been a lecturer in that area for the Physician Assistant Program of the Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Georgia. I was also Assistant Professor in the Division of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory. My greatest satisfying experiences in medicine have been in living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for over five years, practicing medicine and teaching in a free general hospital for the poor. I am very interested in advancing understanding and commitment to the practice of international medicine, so I am excited to be at the Midway Clinic.

I am certified in Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine, and hold a Certificate in Travel Medicine. I have admitting privileges at Regions, North Memorial and Methodist Hospitals.
