What is an account guarantor?

  • An account guarantor is the person responsible for a bill. If you are over 18, you are your own guarantor. Patients under 18 usually have a parent or guardian as their guarantor. Emancipated minors are their own guarantor.

If I have insurance can I apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program?

  • Yes, people with and without medical insurance can apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program. For insured patients we will consider balances not paid by insurance.

  • No, however Regions Hospital has its own Financial Assistance program you can apply for. You can contact Regions Hospital Patient Accounting at 651-254-4791.

What are non-elective professional services?

  • Services that are medically necessary and are provided by a medical professional are considered non-elective. Examples of eligible services are biopsies or an office visit for illness and a throat culture. Examples of non-eligible services are eyeglasses, cosmetic services or durable medical equipment.

  • If based on Minnesota Healthcare Programs guidelines you may be eligible, the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program requires that you have applied for Medical Assistance and Minnesota Care (Minnesota Healthcare Programs).

What options do I have if I do not have insurance and do not qualify for a program?

  • The person who is responsible for your bill (account guarantor) can apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program. This is usually a parent or guardian for patients under age 18. If you are an emancipated minor, you can apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program on your own.

  • The HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program is good for three-months from the approval date. If your situation changes or you start commercial or Medical Assistance coverage, you will need to complete a new application.

  • No, HealthPartners Clinics does not accept other systems Financial Assistance Programs. We ask that you apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program.

What services will receive the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program discount?

  • The discount will apply to non-elective professional services that have an outstanding balance and any charges that take place for three months from the date of approval. After three months, a new application must be submitted and reviewed to continue eligibility.

Can I apply for the HealthPartners Clinics Financial Assistance Program if I have Medical Assistance now, but had charges before I was covered by Medical Assistance?

  • Yes, the charges that took place before your Medical Assistance coverage are eligible for the program.
