Overview
abstract
  • Regions Hospital Emergency Department (ED) began a new program for residents and medical students to incorporate non-clinical shifts during the ED rotation to educate on clinical quality initiatives. The teams respond and analyze cases in real time, supported by CMS core measures and publically reported data. As a result of this program, residents and medical students have had an increased opportunity to understand clinical quality initiatives that they will be held to in their future practice and have taken an active role in improving patient care through analytical case review and systems-based practice changes.
