HealthPartners announces new board chair, elected members

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – HealthPartners today announced the election of new board chair, Phil Donaldson, as well as the election of Amy Langer, Laura Liu, Sharon Pierce and Dr. Thomas Schrup to its board of directors.

Donaldson will serve as the board chair through 2024. He was first elected as a board member in 2017, most recently serving as chair of the finance committee and vice chair of the executive committee. He is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Andersen Corporation and has been recognized for his leadership in business and finance.

“It’s a privilege to serve our community working with the amazing team at HealthPartners,” said Donaldson. “My goal as board chair is to energetically support the organization’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of our members, patients and communities and help ensure HealthPartners can fulfill its mission for generations to come.”

Elected members Langer, Liu, Pierce and Schrup bring a range of leadership experience in health care, finance, marketing, community health, health equity and employee wellness:

  • Amy Langer is an incumbent member of the board, first elected in 2017 and board chair in 2021 and 2022. She co-founded Salo, LLC.
  • Laura Liu is newly elected to the board. She is a business consultant and board director and previously served as chief operating officer at College Possible.
  • Sharon Pierce is an incumbent member of the board, first elected in 2020. She is president and CEO of Minneapolis College.
  • Dr. Thomas Schrup was appointed to serve on the board. He is executive vice president and chief physician officer at CentraCare.
