Career

Morris Goodwin has a broad career in finance with both nonprofit and for profit organizations. Since March of 2014, he holds the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer of American Public Media Group (APMG), the parent organization of Minnesota Public Radio. Prior to joining APMG, Morris served as the vice president of finance and administration for the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation. Previously Morris served as president and executive principal of The Hogan Group a private investment banking firm; executive vice president and chief financial officer of Vivius Inc., a consumer health care technology company; senior vice president and treasurer at Deluxe Corporation; vice president and corporate treasurer of American Express Financial Advisors in Minneapolis and has held various other positions in commercial and investment banking - including stays at JP Morgan Chase and Morgan Stanley.

In addition to HealthPartners where he chairs the Audit Committee, Morris also serves as a director or trustee for: The Bigelow Foundation; The Trustees of the Episcopal Church In Minnesota as its Vice Chair, Twin Cities Rise Inc as Vice Chair and the MN State Board of Investments Advisory Council. Over the years Morris has also served as Chair of the Minneapolis Foundation and as a director of: the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Public Radio, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Metropolitan Economic Development Association, BMC Industries, Charities Review Council, Search Institute, Winthrop Leasing Corporation, Mathstar Inc, and as a member of the University of Minnesota Debt Policy Advisory Committee.

Morris was born and raised in south Minneapolis and lives with his wife, Donna of 44 years, in Minneapolis. Morris and Donna have two adult children who also live in the Twin Cities. Morris has studied the martial arts of aikido and Thai kick boxing, collects and consults on high-end audio, sings blues, gospel, rock and R&B when he can and is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church.
