I’m an internal medicine doctor who cares for patients at Regions Hospital and at HealthPartners Specialty Center – Travel and Tropical Medicine. My work at Regions includes membership in our inpatient palliative care team. I communicate clearly but empathetically with patients about daunting medical conditions while helping them manage their care as the end of life nears. I’m also passionate about global health, and this has led to my involvement in travel and tropical medicine. Since 2010, I’ve served as co-director of the University of Minnesota Global Health Course, a specialized course offered in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The course aims to instruct health care professionals on providing care in a globalized world with high levels of population mobility and diseases that span borders. This fits well with my overall interest in reducing health disparities and helping to train the next generation of providers.
