I’m a sports medicine doctor and pediatrician at TRIA Orthopedics who cares for patients and works to improve the practice of sports medicine. I specialize in helping young athletes who have suffered orthopedic injuries from injury or athletic overuse. My concern about our competitive sports culture that puts tremendous pressure on kids’ bodies was reflected in a TED-X talk, warning of the risks and exploring how youth sports culture could be changed. In addition to my work with patients at TRIA, I’m an assistant professor of orthopedics at the University of Minnesota Medical School and serve as team physician for the Golden Gophers women’s hockey team. My interest in women’s athletics led me to become medical co-director of TRIA Women’s Sports Medicine, a specialized, multidisciplinary care initiative. I believe in health at every size and every age, and my goal is to keep my patients active and healthy throughout their lives.
Outside of work, I enjoy being active myself, getting outdoors with my family to ski, run, bike or do yoga.
