Children under the age of 15 and men can receive care for UTI symptoms through a primary care appointment.

When to get treatment for a UTI

When UTI symptoms show up, getting care early is important. These infections won’t go away without treatment, and delaying can cause the infection to spread or become more severe. Most of the time, an e-visit can be your first choice for UTI treatment.

But head to urgent care if you’re pregnant or have a high fever, back or side pain, cramping in your sides or abdomen, chills or vomiting. If you’ve had four or more UTIs in the last 12 months, either go to urgent care or make an in-person appointment with one of our primary care doctors.

Common UTI symptoms

UTIs are caused by bacteria getting into the urethra, and this results in an infection in the urinary tract. UTI symptoms are hard to ignore and include:

  • Frequent urination
  • Unusual urine color, from urine that is cloudy or contains blood
  • Especially strong smell from your urine
  • Feeling an urgent need to urinate even with an empty bladder
  • Sensation of having a constantly full bladder
  • Discomfort while having sexual intercourse
  • Mild fever

Our clinicians will create a personalized treatment plan based on your symptoms, which may include prescription medications, recommendations for specific over-the-counter medicines and tips to soothe discomfort.

  • Antibiotics for UTIs – These medicines are the main treatment for UTIs. If an antibiotic will help, we’ll recommend the type and duration based on the infection and your health history.
  • Over-the counter medicines – Your treatment plan may include recommendations for pain relievers to help reduce burning or discomfort.
  • At-home treatments – We’ll also provide tips for hydration and self-care to help you feel better faster.

When UTI symptoms make an unwelcome appearance, e-visits make it easy to get fast, affordable online treatment.

Complete your e-visit for a UTI in about 10 minutes

To start an e-visit, sign into your online account or create a new account. We’ll guide you through questions about symptoms, medications, allergies and insurance. From start to finish, submitting an e-visit usually takes about 10 minutes.

Get relief in as little as two hours

Once you submit your e-visit, one of our experienced nurse practitioners reviews your answers, determines a diagnosis and creates a treatment plan. As soon as they’re done, you’ll get an email letting you know it’s ready. We typically deliver treatment plans in as little as two hours.

We review e-visits 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays. If you submit an e-visit outside these hours, your treatment plan will arrive the following morning.

The most affordable care option

E-visits are usually covered by insurance. Depending on your plan, the cost may be as low as $0 with insurance. Without insurance, the cost can be up to $89, but never more. Whether you use insurance or not, there are never any hidden fees or extra costs.

We’re able to treat most UTI symptoms with an e-visit. But if we can’t treat you, we’ll connect you with another care option, and you won’t be charged for the e-visit.
