Yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis (BV) are the most common causes of vaginal irritation, and we can quickly and effectively treat both online. Our expert clinicians will review your symptoms, create a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. If we can’t diagnose you online, we’ll connect you to the best care option, and you won’t be charged for the e-visit.
Bacterial vaginosis is the most common vaginal condition for women ages 15 to 44 years old. It can occur when the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina gets thrown off.
BV can cause vaginal irritation, such as burning and itching, but the most distinctive symptoms are the appearance and odor of discharge. BV discharge is typically thin and gray or white, often with a fish-like smell that becomes more noticeable after sexual intercourse or menstruation. If you have BV, you may also experience a burning sensation when you pee.
BV treatment helps restore the normal balance of vaginal bacteria. Depending on your symptoms, our clinicians will discuss options with you that typically include an oral antibiotic or vaginal suppository antibiotic. Symptoms usually start to get better within 2-3 days of beginning treatment.
Yeast infections are very common, and about three out of four women will have at least one in their lifetime. They’re most often caused by Candida albicans, a fungus that naturally lives in the body.
Symptoms typically include vaginal irritation and a thick, white, clumpy discharge. Yeast infections are usually odorless, and some women may also notice burning during urination or discomfort with sex.
Yeast infections are more likely to occur after using antibiotics, which can disrupt the microbiome of the vagina. Hormonal changes (including pregnancy, menstrual cycles or hormonal birth control) and diabetes that’s not under control can also increase the risk of yeast infections.
Treatment for yeast infections is antifungal medication, which can help you feel better in just one or two days.
When you’re having symptoms, getting treatment can help you get better, faster. E-visits make it easy to get fast, affordable treatment online.
To start an e-visit, sign into your online account, or create a new account. We’ll guide you through questions about your symptoms, medications, allergies and insurance. From start to finish, submitting an e-visit usually takes about 10 minutes.
Once you complete your e-visit, one of our experienced nurse practitioners reviews your answers, determines a diagnosis and creates a treatment plan. As soon as they’re done, we’ll send you an email letting you know it’s ready. We typically deliver treatment plans in as little as two hours.
We review e-visits 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays. If you submit an e-visit outside these hours, your treatment plan will arrive the following morning.
E-visits are usually covered by insurance. Depending on your plan, the cost may be as low as $0 with insurance. Without insurance, the cost can be up to $89, but never more. Whether you use insurance or not, there are never any hidden fees or extra costs.
We’re able to treat most vaginal irritation symptoms with an e-visit. But if we can’t treat you, we’ll connect you with the best care option, and you won’t be charged for the e-visit.
