Advance Care Planning

A medical crisis can happen at any age, so it’s a good idea to have health care plans for the future. Advance care planning is an important step to ensure you get the medical care you want, even if family members are making the decisions for you. Advance care planning involves identifying a health care agent who can help with medical decisions, and developing a written health care directive – a plan for your future medical treatments.

Our trained facilitators can help you initiate conversations, provide assistance with advance care planning, and communicate wishes to your family, friends and doctor.

Our informational meetings are designed to educate you on advance care planning, and offer you the option to schedule a free individual session with a facilitator to develop a personalized advance care plan. If you have a health care directive that you would like to review at the session, please bring a copy with you.

Advance Care classes are the 2nd Thursday at 3:00 P.M. of each month at Hutchinson Health Hospital.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Groups

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program at Hutchinson Health follows research-based curriculum developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, the creator of DBT. Our program is designed for people who have experienced some or all the following difficulties over a significant period of time, and who wish to learn better skills to manage them:

  • Regulating emotions
  • Self-injurious behavior
  • Frequent suicidal thoughts or attempts
  • Frequent emergency room visits or hospitalizations
  • Long-standing difficulties in interpersonal relationships

In our dialectical behavior therapy groups, you’ll learn and practice mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and the “walking the middle path” mentality.
